Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

Our fab new challenge is up at Mo's dp2 challenge blog and this week its "Something Sweet"
Now i ask you what is sweeter than Peaches?  This delightful images is available from Mo's store
and what a dream to color.  Cut with labels seventeen from Spellbinders.
The pearly flourish is one of those made ones that i do laying down the glue dots and then popping the pearl on the glue.
the sentiment is a computer generated one, layered onto one of the smaller dies that came with the fleur de lis pendant.
the organza ribbon from my stash and the bead pins are also made by yours truly just added additonal beads to a pearl head corsage pin and two bugle beads to the bottoms with glue in theme so the points wouldnt stick out and prick the recipient.
Well enjoy enjoy our challenge this week, i am busy trying to pack house and not actually getting very far, pack one box and then unpack another searching for items that i still need while we are in limbo between moving and staying where we are.

Magnolia-licious dt

I am finally posting something again, i know i seem to be quite absent, hope the dry spell on  my blog wont linger too long.  We have a fabulous new challenge on Magnolia-licious challenge blog and the theme this week is a nautical wedding picutre inspiration:
Sometimes i take things pretty literary and so after seeing the fabulous cake that Angela Wood my fellow teamy here on Magnolia-licious and on Tomic made i just had to give it a go.
I made all my boxes using the circle and pinking methos for the sides of the boxes and added a strip of ribbon on the undersides of each of the boxes so they could be easliy opened.  My thought was to add some gimicky lengerie to the boxes for the newly married couple.
Each of my boxes was embossed with various Cuttlebug embossing folders, i added some lace, flowers and pearls and then some tulle to cover the bottom of my images at the very top tier.
This Bridal couple is available from Magnolia-licious, item # 158, where Diana will give you amazing service and great discounts, colored with copics and given a good going over with some star dust stickles, my all time favourite stickles, i dont think i ever color an image and it doesnt get stickles.
Do head over to the challenge blog and check out all the inspiration the team have come up with.
Have a great week and i will see you back here soon

P.S: gonna enter the following challenges with this little ensemble:
Magnolia Mania: ribbons and lace
Anything goes: pick of the bunch flowers
Oh la la: circles
Simon says stamp and show: anything goes

Mo's challenge dt

I know my blog has been pretty quiet of late, but there is a lot happening in my real life at the moment, so please be patient with me, things will sort themselves out soon, and i am also trying to catch up with dt work so when i have to move house and be without my craft room during my move i will still have been one step ahead enought to be able to post on my blog.
ok now that i have had my little winge, on with this weeks challenge on Mo's dp2 challenge blog its a "summer vacation challenge"  while we in Africa are freezing our tooshies off.
I have used Lacie with ice-cream available from Mo's store, i love this image, have used her before, but what can i say, Mo's images are so fabulous i can use them over and over and never tire of using them.  I colored her with copics, listed colors below:
My paper is from Prima and i love this paper, when i started out with this paper it was bright and cheerful with loads of summer colors and once i started layering, it just kinda got lost in the creative process, but you can still see it on the inside of my card.
The corner i used are available from Wild orchards but i found a local supplier that has basically the same products, however i dont need to wait for them to come from the UK what a win!  I used my top boss pad on the corner and then added some white embossing powder to it and then a touch of the ol" glittah that we cant do without.
Doily, flowers and pearls from my stash.  The dt have again outdone themselves so do pop over to the challenge blog to be inspired and join in the fun

Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

We have a great new challenge up on Mo's dp 2 challenge blog, "black and white with a touch of color"  and nothing new with me, late as usual.  I have spent the last two days demonstrating at a show for suppliers of PNA who are the largest franchise of stationary and craft items in South Africa, hoping they are all gonna cotton on to the demand of copics in the crafting industry.
For my card i am using Guilty Rocco and Guilty Bert available from Mo's store.
Colored with my copics all cool greys.  Added some ribbon and buttons, the stamp with the together sentiment is a random ticket stamp that i had in my stash, paired up with a stamp i got from 7 gypsies ages ago.
I am so tired after the last two days so i am sorry if my post is rather short and boring, but i sure did enjoy making this card, i amy start using only black and white with a touch of color for all my cards, lol

Magnolia-licious dt

Tuesday is here and its time for another challenge on Magnolia-licious challenge blog, the photo inspiration is a great one:
Not sure exactly what i was thinking when i colored my image, with all those pleats, this image was done  quite some time back while i was teaching a workshop for copics.  I just love this image:  available from Magnolia-licious store #3060 Secret Tilda.
Image colored with copics:  B97, B95, B93, B91, B000, hair: C7, C5, C3, C1, Reds: R29, R27, R24, R22, all our little Tilda's lace got a good going over with star dust stickles, the stars around my image were stamped using one of those random stamps that we all have in our stash, i then gave each of the stars a rhinestone centre, a girl can never have enough bling!
the sentiment is one that i got last year at the NEC from LOTV.  Border punch is  a MS punch, the doily is one from Nellie Snellen mfd dies, and the flourish is a Marianne die.
the paper was really old so i have no idea where its from and the lace is a vintage lace that i found at one of the local suppliers.  I just had to add the stitching to the card to finish it off.
the girls on the dt really outdid themselves with this fab challenge i look forward to seeing what all of you come up with so head over to the challenge blog and join in the fun

Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

As usual these days i am a little late with my post, have been really busy filming dvd tutorials for Copic SA as we are attending a huge wholesale show next week and they wanted something to put up on a big screen to punt copics in SA and hopefully encourage those that are lagging behind a little to get up to speed and start to use a medium of coloring that actually gives your cards the WOW factor.  So yes i am late, but i do have a good excuse, lol
Our challenge this week on Mo's challenge blog is Vintage with distressing and lace" duh! i forgot the lace bit.  Ah well, if you look at my card i think i got the vintage wrong too, but there you go the dt sometimes get it wrong too, kwim.
So for my card i did manage to get the distressing right and distressed all the edges, going over them with vintage photo once distressed to death.  Layered onto a spellbinder fleur de lis.
Added my flowers and for a final touch a butterfly that i added some flat backed pearls to the centres of.
the image is an older one of Mo's, but i just love her, especially the angle from which she was drawn and you can purchase her Here from Mo's store

NEWS FLASH!!!!!

I am so STOKED to share with all of my friends in blog land that after lots of trying, i am on the Magnolia Sweden dt.  Unfortunately due to postage etc i have not made anything for the upcoming issue of the Magnolia Ink, however am looking forward to submitting some of my work for the next issue.
I had applied so many times to get onto the dt that i was losing hope, my last try was about a month ago and i had almost forgotten that i had sent the email when i recieved an email from a person whose name i didnt recognise.  Having been warned by my son never to open up emails that you dont know the sender, yep, you geussed it, i opened the email and thank goodness i did.  At first i didnt see anything in the email pertaining to Magnolia, reading through the email i was sceptical, till i got to the bottom and saw MAGNOLIA SWEDEN, well i closed it and marked it unread, i couldnt believe it, then i reread it and closed and marked it unread, perhaps five or six times, and then it was like a bomb had gone off!!!! i was screaming and hyperventillating, and shaking and running around the room like a jibbering idiot!!!! i couldnt talk and couldnt explain to anyone.  So my DH, bless him says "they can hear you in Sweden"  Yes, yes yes, was all i could say.  He got it right first time, and then when i told him he was so chuffed for me, and made all the right noises.
I do hope you will support me on this new adventure and pop in as i am sure that MY MARVELLOUS MAGGIES BLOG is gonna become A LOT MORE BUSY.

Commissioned cards

This post is very picture heavy, i got a commision this weekend to make all of these cards, then while making them i decided that perhaps i could make one of them following the challenge on the Sugar bowl, which was nice and easy as its a sketch.  They also asked for hand made flowers so i whipped these flowers on the above card together in a flash and thought they came out pretty good for hand made by yours truly, i added some dusty concord so that they would match my card too, and also added a flourish from a MD.  The border across my card is an EK punch.

All the images are colored using my preffered medium of copics and embellished with items from  my stash.

I know they are very different to what you normally see me do, but the recipient asked for very clean and simple, and i geuss this is as clean and simple as i can do.
Hope you like them

Scarecrow Maggie and a rant!

I have a card to share and along the way i am gonna get on my soapbox and have a little rant, so if you just wanna look at my creation, thats fine too.
We as bloggers/ crafters/ card makers mostly blog and craft to share and inspire one another, i also skype with quite a few of my crafty friends and often share whatever card i am working on while skypeing with my friends, however i never expect them to reuse my ideas before i get a chance to share my creation on my blog.  Well i think we can deduce from this who our friends are.  I know when i create something and someone uses my creation for inspiration i am positively THRILLED that i may inspire someone.  However i see it as a slap in the face when my sharing gets abused!  Ok now i can get off my soap box and share my card
I recieved a parcel from the OH SO GENEROUS Diana from Magnolia-licious and just had to dig right in and start a card with my newest little Maggies.  I used #298 Scarecrow Tilda and #253 Garden Tilda, colored with copics, i masked my image and used a Hero arts background stamp for the corn field look, and then sponged and airbrushed a sunset background.
All my edges were distressed with a distressing tool and given a lavish going over with vintage photo, i stitched around the edges so that i could enter the challenge on MDUC where they want: stitching and swirls, we all know how i feel about my pearly swirls, he he.
Then i wanted to use the same card for TOMIC: shimmer and pearls, also right in there with what i love and my little bees and Tilda's lace got the stickle treatment.  This card fits the bill for the challenge on Stampalot it will be entered there too.
The fence is a little wooden one that i have had in my stash for quite some time now, and the tag sentiment is a computer generated one, the hessian is from the stash and the little watering can i thought was perfect for this.  The little corn shoots on the iside of my card and laying next to our little gardener are made by yours truly using florist wire and a little daisy punch.
have a great weekend

P.S: i was chatting to a friend about this and she said its like a "friend" dating an ex-boyfriend and only finding out via the grapevine i thought it was a great analogy
