Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

"all my favourite things" what  a great challenge we have this week on Mo's challenge blog for me this is more than just making a card for a challenge:
1) my favourite person in the world is having a birthday next month, "my sister and best friend in the whole world"
2) She is nuts about FB so choosing the image checking FB, was really easy
3) i got to use my all time fav color combo
4)  All my favourite embellishments

How easy can a challenge be?
Do come and join in the fun, all you gotta do is use your favourite goodies.
have a great weekend

Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

first up do you like my new background? thanks to my clued up friend in CT you are a star, not mentioning names, just now everyone will be emailing for new backgrounds, lol
duh! i didnt color the cheeks until after i had posted the card, what a shmendrick?
We have a fab new challenge on Mo's challenge blog, stitching real or faux.  I love stitching on my cards, but always think of it as a mission to pull out my sewing machine.  I used "Georgia" for my image and then these papers i purchased a week or so ago from the local supplier of papermania papers.  I so seldom use lilacs or purples as i seem to have a real problem when i use them, but am quite happy as i think the new paper helped a lot.
then i just had to add a flourishy pearly bit up the side of my card as i havent done it for quite some time, i had such fun doing this card so i hope it inspires you to join our challenge this week on Mo's dp 2 challenge blog, i stitched each of my layers just to prove i was in the groove, ha ha
have a great week

P.S: copics i used for the lilacs:  BV17, BV13, B63, B60

Tomic challenge 33 dt

hi friends, we have a new challenge on TOMIC, a fabulous sketch with the addition of adding fabric, i sure hope you gonna come by and play.

I scratched my head for a while trying to decide how i was gonna incorporate the fabric into my card design, but i am quite pleased with the way it turned out.  I used Tulle wrapped around my xcut heart with a pearly ribbon slider and some cheesecloth on one of my layers on  my card so thats the fabric bit.
the darling image is one of the new ones from the "sweet crazy love collection" as is the one i used on the inside of my card.  The sentiment was a locally bought one that was kindly donated to me by my friend on the end of the continent in Cape Town, thanks Shazi.

i used one of my doohickey dies for the border and the leafy bit by my flowers.

I decided not to mat my image on another piec of cardstock thinking it would just get lost on everything else that was going on with this card, havent tried that before, just inked around the edges to give it a bit of a pop.

Ok folks thats it from me
see y"all soon

P.S: havent entered a challenge in ages so am gonna enter this into the challenge on Magnolia-licious highlights challenge where they are gearing up for valentines.

Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

this week i am two days late!! shocking i know, our phone lines have been down which means no Adsl = no internet access.  Better late than never.
Our challenge this week at Mo's challenge blog our challenge is CAS, so for our challenge i knew i had to make a baby card as i am gonna be needing one in a few days as my dil's sister is about to have her baby and i will need to have a card for her, so the choice of card was easy.
while skyping with a dear friend she suggested that i use this darling image Michael available from Mo's store, i havent played much with my prisma pencils so decided to use pencils instead of copics just to add that touch of color to my image.  Loads of stickles added to my cloud and Michaels wings.
I havent attached this card front to the card as yet as we dont like to tempt fate, so when the baby is born and we go to the hospital i will quickly finish the inside of the card and attach the front to the base card.
Have a great weekend

Mo's dp 2 challenge dt

oh yes i found that skating backwards was easier to remember that skating forward, lol
In case you're wondering what that roll around my waiste is, it isnt my faty roll, i had on such a long skirt that it dragged on the ice and i almost fell over my skirt so i had to roll it up to prevent serious injury.

Even my eldest boy joined us, what a delight to have all four of my children with me for this outing, i so miss having my eldest son joining me on little outings, was such a pleasure.  My two youngest children were off skating within a matter of minutes and this was their first time on the ice.
P.S:  As you can see my dear husband isnt much of a photographer, he blamed the camera of course!
Well after the furor of moving house and then moving into my new kick ass studio i finally feel like life is returning to life as i remember.  Next week the children will be going back to school and then i can finally sit my toosh down and get stuck in seriously without distraction.  We went ice skating the other day and fun was had by all, including yours truly, oh yes i put the skates on and its just like after you've learnt to ride a bicycle, you never forget.  Once or twice around the rink and i was back on my skates so to speak.

Anywho on with our challenge for this week, "Anything goes"  so nice and easy.  I wanted to use this dream image for a long time, i have used the boy version before and then i came across this paper that i thought was perfect, from Echo park.  This delightful iamge is available from Mo's store HERE
i kept the card very simple without too many embellishments so that i didnt lose the paper, added the circular sentiment from LOTV, and a ribbon, few pearls and called it done.
the senitment in the centre of my card is computer generated, and after i had done the card i realised how many other stamp sentiments i have in my stash that would have been perect, oh well next time.
do join our challenge for this week

The paper shelter dt

A nice easy challenge for you on the Paper shelter challenge blog this week as its "Anything goes"
For my card i found this paper that i bought forever ago and forgot how much i just loved it, so i brought it back to life with one of the delightful PS images, the image is called "lets make a picnic" available from the PS shop here.
I have been thinking that i would need a few "thank you" cards lately so i added the thank you senitment onto a tag that i used one of my old punches to make, i added some flat backed pearls to all four corners of my card, a Magnolia flourish that i am afraid has been overpowered by all the flowers i added, and last but not least a touch of lace.
I am really enjoying working with these cute darling stamps, do come and join in the fun, have a great week

my new craft room

i thought i would share some pctures of my new craft room that my dear husband so generously supervised the construction of to make sure it had all his specs included. Each day he would come to me with new hicoughs and say "the one wall has face bricks, what should we do?'  i would asnwer, " dont panic we can just paint it white, that way the room will have some character."  Look closely, he plastered it.  There were other questions along the way, i.e: i wanted panelling along the walls or perhaps some wainscoting, nothing like that in sight!
                                                              before
                                                                   after
                                                                before
                                                                            after
while i am showing you my craft space i have to admit that i have a weakness for visiting the SA equivelant of goodwill, Hospice, i found that dresser with the three drawers that i lined with felt and am storing dies in it, the unit with all those narrow shelves also from you geussed it Hospice, and the old fashioned laundry basket that they used pin board for the outside of so it would have vent holes is for now a pin stand for hanging my nesties, also from the same place.

the large optometrist drawer i found there too and it is great for all my cd cases that hold my stamps.

here's a peek inside a few of the drawers or on the shelves

 flat backed pearls galore!
flowers in the sweet jars that my mum made spotted covers for so that i can eventually have a cohesive color scheme happening in my space
i made this ribbon stand with rods and brackets for bathroom curtain rails
all my stamps in cd cases with numbers on them so i can find stuff
a few random punches i have three of these sets of drawers, but alas they are brown so they gotta go and soon!
my MS punches and a few EK success at the bottom
Oh well i do think i have a kick ass space to craft and am very lucky to have it, now to get some built in cupboards etc.  For now this will certainly do.
will keep you all posted as to whatever changes get made
