Aggrieved!!!

Is the correct term aggrieved or aggravated?Who cares i am really cheesed off.  It was brought to my attention by a friend that someone who is on one of the Mag dt's actually copied one of my ideas and didnt see fit to give me the credit for the idea.  Sure some of the other bloggers out there have had this happen to them before, i just think we all work so hard to set our feet on sturdy ground working for some companies on their dt's to promote their wonderful stamps and to get a little recognition for our efforts yet even although we ask people not to "steal" from us, people just dont care and think its fair.
By all means share your ideas to inspire is what its all about, but give credit where credit is due.

  1. Awww I'm so sorry to hear that my friend! I would be more than just aggravated, I would be livid! How nasty of them. I agree totally, give credit where credit is due. How awful. Hopefully they'll get wind of this and suffer the consequences. Lotsa luv xxxx

  3. I would be a lot more than just aggrieved! It doesn't cost anything to give credit. Very little of what we do is totally original, we all get our inspiration somewhere, but a copy? TOTALLY Unacceptable!! I would actually contact the mag and make sure they are aware of it. Most mags have very strict policies about copyright.

  6. I agree with Lorraine that you should let them know that you've sussed them. I think that's a really mean thing to do to a fellow crafter. It's not difficult to tell people where you got an idea. I'm really annoyed about this on your behalf. Can you tell us where it happened? Maybe with a piccie?

  7. So sorry to hear this. I know how beautiful your creations are. To take credit is to steal. Try and remember the childhood words our Moms always said - to copy you is the greatest compliment as you must be doing something worth copying! (now if only the second part would kick in "remember to give credit where credit is due!)

  8. I came by and read this earlier today and couldn't think of the right comforting words to leave you. As I thought on, I am now feeling guilty as I came by your page for inspiration when I was working on a beach-themed project with Finna the fairy, just had no idea how to colour her hair!! I didn't think anything of it at the time, but now I'm wondering, could I be the copy-cat? If so, I am very sorry for causing you to feel this way :(

Now that I have confessed to the hair stalking, I think it escapes peoples minds that they aren't just trying something new but in fact copying something they've seen somewhere else. And like you say, it is one thing to be inspired, quite another to COPY.

  9. Hi Paola,
I'm so sorry to hear that! I agree credit should be given where it is due! Your cards are beautiful and this person just stole your idea without saying a word! That's awful! You should contact that person for an explanation, or maybe even the company.... Hope it won't happen again!

  10. A dear friend sent me the link to your post as she knows this has happened to me also, many times. I have even had my own work published in a magazine under another persons name ! Some people say I should be flattered and others are furious that my work has been 'stolen'. To be honest I feel sorry for the people who have to take our ideas as their own and fail to give credit. I for one ALWAYS mention if I have been inspired by someone even if my idea eventually turned out very different from the inspirational piece. I guess it comes down to ethics, some people have none! Hope this experience doesn't affect your love for what you do, crafting is generally a caring sharing community and it would be a shame if the few spoiled it for the rest of us.
